FREE SCHOOL MEALS
I have mentioned in previous newsletters about eligibility for free school meals. As you know, all pupils in Reception, Years 1 and 2 receive a free school meal regardless of whether their parents have applied for free school meals or not. This will of course stop when your child is in Year 3 unless you apply. PLEASE however DO NOT WAIT until then.
If you think you are eligible and your child is in Reception, Year 1, 2 or any year group in school the school will receive EXTRA money even if your child does not have the school meal!
As a school we have used this money to:
Provide three teachers in Year 6 so that class sizes are smaller and teaching is more personalised to meet the needs of the children.
Extra teaching assistant support throughout the school, especially in Key Stage 1.
Resources for pupils - e.g. books
Funding for all pupils by the time they reach Year 6 to have a FREE residential.
Summer school before Year 7 at our Feeder School – St Thomas Aquinas Secondary School.
You do not need to come into school to check your eligibility, you can do this from the comfort of your own home. As a school we do not receive any information about your income or financial status so please do not be concerned.
