The children gathered together for the first time this academic year. Their new roles are:
We wish all of the children luck in carrying out their duties.
Lord, Thank you for our gifts and talents.
Lord, Show us who needs your help.
Lord, Use our hands to help those who are hungry.
Lord. Open our hearts to love and comfort those who are sad and lonely.
Lord, Let us share our time, gifts and talents with those in need.
Lord, Help us to care for the sick.
Lord, May we all help and support each other as Mini Vinnies to build a better world.
Amen
We met to create the luxury bags for the homeless using the amazing donations from the families of St Brigid’s. A special thank you to Mr Burr who donated 100 hats, hoodies, T-shirt’s and gloves through one of his supplies. Thank you!
Our wonderful Mini Vinnie group have helped to collect tinned and packet goods for our Harvest celebration. These have been donated to our parish SVP group who will work alongside our Mini Vinnies to create food parcels for people in need.
2021-22
The Mini Vinnies turned their ‘concern into action’ and helped the SVP at Our Lady of Perpetual Succour Church bag up the donations ready for delivery. The children were a credit to the school and were complemented for their organisation and helpfulness. Thank you to the community of St Brigid’s for your kind donations and for helping those in need.
Thank you to Mr Burr for his donation of our very own Mini Vinnie t-shirts to wear which we carry out our very important work. Thank you Mr Burr for your generosity!
A massive thank you also to all the families who have kindly donated tins and packets for our SVP collection. Thank you!
Thank you to the whole school community for their generous donations of chocolate for the homeless. The Mini Vinnies gathered together to bag it up and place an Easter card inside. Some of the bags were given to Father Cecil and the SVP who will distribute them to the homeless.
Thank you to the whole school community, who gave so generously towards our luxury bags for the homeless in Birmingham. Each bag contained a hat, gloves, socks, lip balm, hand cream and some chocolate. The Mini Vinnies decorated each bag and wrote a Christmas card which was placed inside.
A MASSIVE thank you for your generosity in giving to our 2021 Harvest collection.
We shall be donating it to the SVP charity who help those in need in our community.
The children have begun collecting Harvest donations for the SVP. Our SVP came in to school to see the hard work that has begun. The Mini Vinnies will help to bag it up ready for collection.
2020-2021
This year has been quite a change for the Mini Vinnies. Unfortunately we are not able to meet as a group due to restrictions. This has not stopped us from using our skills and talents to help people in our community.
For our first task, we were asked to write a letter to people in our parish who are in isolation and may be lonely at this time. We thought about how we could let them know that of the children at St Brigid's were thinking of them and praying for them during these difficult times. The letters were distributed by the SVP Parish group to parishioners. We were delighted to receive a response from a parishioner who was so grateful to read our lovely letters.
The SVP Parish group asked us to help them at Christmas time to make some cards for the homeless people in our city. Our school helped the parish to collect items which were handed out to people in need. We made Christmas cards to accompany these packs passing on our best wishes to people this Christmas. We made so many cards that we had lots leftover which we left in the parish for parishioners to give out to people who may be spending Christmas time alone.
2019-2020
The Mini Vinnies gathered together to write some ‘Postcards of Happiness’ to send to the people at Beeches Care Home in Northfield. We hope that when they receive them it will put a smile on their face. Thank you to Abel’s Father who donated the postcards which he bought from the Holy Land.
2018-19
