We have now entered the Season of Creation. The children at St Brigid’s will be focusing on how to look after God’s creation and will be taking part in activities to mark the United Nation’s Climate Change Conference COP26 which is taking place in Glasgow during October and November.
What can you do to help look after our world?
Prayer writing competition
We held a prayer writing competition with the theme 'Climate change'. Thank you to all those who entered. Congratulations to Gino in 6AB who won the £10 Smyth's Toys voucher.
A prayer for climate change
O Lord creator of Heaven and Earth. We thank you for this rich gift. We know the Earth is crying and you are crying with us. We also know that your beautiful creation cannot be renewed without the renewal of humanity itself.
I ask Lord that you open the hearts and minds of your people to take action on climate change. Guide us Lord to seek ways of living less wastefully and more frugally, manifesting less greed and more generosity for the protection of your creation and the benefits of your people.
You are the light of the world, grant that the same light enkindled in our hearts may shine forth in all we do.
Through Jesus Christ Our Lord.
Amen

Prayer for the COP26 climate summit
Loving God,
We praise your name with all you have created.
You are present in the whole universe,
and in the smallest of creatures.
We acknowledge the responsibilities you have placed upon us
as stewards of your creation.
May the Holy Spirit inspire all political leaders at COP26 as they
seek to embrace the changes needed to foster a more sustainable society.
Instil in them the courage and gentleness to implement fairer solutions
for the poorest and most vulnerable,
and commit their nations to the care of Our Common Home.
We ask this through Our Lord Jesus Christ your Son.
Amen
