The winners! Mai Yr6, Susanna in RNR and Irish-Mae in2JT. Well done to you all.
The children in Global Gang have worked tirelessly throughout the school year to raise awareness about issues, events and celebrations around the world.
As a special reward for their efforts we visited Akamba African Heritage Centre in Shirley.
What an amazing time we had there! It really felt as if we had walked into a tropical paradise!
Fairtrade Fortnight
St Brigid’s Global Gang went to Sainsbury’s to find out more about the Fairtrade products that are available to us there. We compared prices with equivalent products that are not Fairtrade.
We also organised a competition for the whole school! The response was overwhelming and the information gathered was very useful for our price comparisons. Thank you to all that took part in this, you are amazing!
As part of our topic ‘Christmas Around The World’ Global Gang had hot chocolate and made ‘pepernoten’ ( Dutch ginger biscuits) to celebrate St. Nicholas Day. It was messy but great fun! A well deserved treat for these hardworking children!
Global Gang has had a busy term! We discussed such topics as War & Peace, the Global Goals and Gender Equality. We hosted a Global Café for parents and parishioners.
For Diwali we made Diva-lamps and Rangoli patterns.
We remembered those who lost their lives in wars around the world and learned about what the poppy symbolises.
We enjoyed learning about a number of other faiths during Interfaith Week.
At the moment we are working on presentations about Christmas around the world.
Thank you children for all your hard work and thoughtful discussions!
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
